Helping Your Business Succeed Through Search Engine Optimization

It is important that, as a website owner, you understand the connection between your search rank and your success. You’ll find the methods here that you can use to move your site towards the top.

You have to start at the beginning with search engine optimization, and figure out the basics first. Since this task is not done by humans, it is important to build your site based on how computers see it. Search engine spiders are used to analyze websites and recognize signs of relevance. When you optimize your site for search engines, you use the automated process of page ranking to your own benefit. There are things that you can do to an existing website or a brand new one that will allow you to move up.

Search engines use a number of criteria to determine your site’s relevancy scores. One thing that they use are the heading tags on your website, so ensuring these keywords are used is vitally important. The amount of activity your website generates is another thing they look at.

It is time consuming to improve your search ranking. It’s important that you use every method of search engine optimization you can. Using relevant keywords throughout your site will help boost your search engine rankings. Fill your website with appropriate keywords that will increase your ranking.

Improving a website’s ranking on a search engine is not something you can simply accomplish by paying money. Search engines offer sponsored ad spaces that can display when a term is searched, but some keywords are extremely expensive. Most small businesses cannot afford to buy those slots because the results are not worth the expense.

Placing keywords and phrases in your content is not the only effective form of search engine optimization. Links between your own pages, to other websites, and most especially off-site links pointing to your site all improve your site’s rank and reputation. Collect backlinks by forging relationships with other webmasters and making reciprocal link agreements.

If you can bring in your targeted customers, that means your website is working right. Though there will be some instances when people find your website simply by random browsing, these visitors are not inclined to make purchases and aren’t going to become regular site visitors. If you want to reach your target market, you must utilize keywords that are likely to be used when your potential customers are searching the web for services such as yours. When it comes to advertising on other sites, you need to choose sites that your targeted customers will be visiting.

There are reasons why every business should have a website. You must have a good website if your business is dependent upon internet customers and sales. There is nothing optional about this! This article has provided you with a few ideas so that you can begin to search engine optimize your website in order to increase its visibility on search engine results pages.

SEO Tips

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results. This means getting your website ranked in the search engines in order to generate traffic. Most of us are familiar with SEO for general keywords (i.e. weight loss, make money from home, dog training etc.) however for offline marketing we will do SEO for local keywords. This is the foundation to which I built my offline marketing business. I provided businesses with high search engine rankings for local keywords. This training will show you how to develop and implement an SEO campaign for a local business.

Local SEO

Local SEO is built on keywords that have local modifiers. This simply means you will be combining a location to the niche. For example if you are focusing on dentist in the New York area your keywords would be similar to: dentist New York, teeth whitening New York, emergency dentist New York etc. You will need to discuss with your client some of the top keywords to target as well conducting your own keyword research. Once you complete you keyword research you are ready to start your Local SEO campaign.

Onsite Optimization

A key part for any SEO strategy is the onsite optimization. This means your website is structured in a way to show Google that your website is related to your target keywords. You will be able to find a lot of information on the Warrior Forum about proper onsite optimization. Here I will give you some basic information about how to structure a website for local SEO.

Title Tags: The title tag is what shows up in the search engines for a website. It is also one of the most important parts of your onsite SEO strategy. If you are working with a WordPress website you will be able to easily adjust the title tag. I have found that the following is the best title tag structure:

Primary Keyword City ‘ Secondary Keyword City, ST ‘ LSI Keyword

Dentist New York ‘ Emergency Dentist New York, NY ‘ Teeth Whitening

Description: The description is important not necessarily for SEO purposes instead it used to increase Click Through Rate (CTR). First you should include your primary keyword because it will become bold in the SERP’s. You should also include a Call To Action, this can be anything from: click here, find out more, learn more etc. Finally also include the phone number of the business. This is a ninja trick that helps gets more calls for your offline client.

Keywords: Keywords have very little effect on SEO, typically I will include the primary keyword, some LSI keywords and finally the business name.

Content: The content of on the website is still KING. Typically the content on a page should be 350 words minimum. There should also be about a 2% primary keyword density. The real secret is to adding LSI keywords throughout the content as much as possible. Also be sure to add your keywords throughout your meta tags. This means you put your primary keywords in your header tags, bold keywords and underline keywords.

Another important aspect on content that is over looked by most when dealing with local SEO is that the content added needs to be ongoing. This can simply be a blog that gets high quality optimized content added every month. Personally I will 3-5 articles created for my offline client each month that is added to their blog. This helps bring in a lot more traffic from random keywords and builds an “authority” website.

Offsite SEO

After you have completed your clients onsite SEO it is time to start with offsite SEO. This is the SEO service that you will be providing for your clients on an ongoing basis. Offsite SEO helps build the ranking over time and shows the search engines that people find your website helpful. Typically offsite SEO is all about getting backlinks from different sources. However after the Google Panda and Penguin updates certain backlinks have started to hurt websites. Also when doing local SEO there is a special type of backlink that needs to be included in your overall strategy.

Backlinks : After your competition analysis and the use of Opensite Explorer you should have a good idea of your competitor’s backlinks. Use this information to you advantage and start getting backlinks from the same sources if possible. You will also need to create a backlink strategy for your client’s site. It is important to get a constant flow of quality backlinks each month to your client’s site.

Citation : Citations are a form of backlinks that are vital for any Local SEO strategy.  This is the mention of a business Name Address Phone Number (NAP) on different websites. Common citation sources are sites like Yellowpages, Angies List, Dex Knows etc. However you can also leave a business NAP on any page and use it as a backlink to the business website. Like normal backlinks you must create new ciations on a monthly basis to help increase your clients search engine rankings.

What’s Next

Local SEO is a somewhat different than normal SEO however it can be easier to rank for local keywords. Your local SEO strategy will consist of two parts, onsite SEO and offsite SEO. Onsite SEO is very similar to any SEO you have done in the past. It consist of showing the search engines that your clients website is related to a particular keyword. Offsite SEO is more of the ongoing service that you will have to provide for a client’s website. You be providing a constant flow of backlinks and citations to help boast website rankings. Usually it takes between 3-6 months before your SEO efforts start to drastically improve rankings. The most important thing with SEO is establishing clear expectations with your clients. Keep this in mind when creating proposals for potential clients.

Local SEO is a great way to build an Offline Marketing Empire. When done correctly this can add a lot of value to any business and you can charge premium prices for your services. Normally, the most used links are at the top or bottom of all websites. These are known as site-wide links. It can be beneficial to you if you have a particular page that you would like your visitors to see. This can be the page on which you advertise your product or the page on which the customer can make a purchase. Have site-wide links in a tidy menu so that visitors are able to simply and quickly find your site’s other pages. Make sure you describe each of your menu pages well and organize them intelligently.

One very important part of your website is the HTML code. Meta tags are a good way to show search engines what your website is about. HTML tags will help search engines judge how relevant your content is while your visitors will not be able to read them. Create quality Meta tags by choosing popular and relevant keywords. Be wary of over-using Meta tags, since this can have a detrimental effect. A different Meta tag for each page of your site is important so that search engines will send viewers to that specific part of your page.

As you develop your site, make sure you are using both H tags and keywords. H tags ought to be in article titles as they highlight your most important keywords. The text will be more visible by altering the look of the font and associated color. You will gain more traffic to your site via search engines if you use H tags well. This is because H tags make it easier for search engines and visitors to identify your content.

Crash Course to “Milking” GOOGLE out of free Traffic

In an earlier post, I talked about what the heart of your business should be and the importance of one.

Now I want to discuss some simple steps you need to take to get ranked in the search engines. So you can get loads of free, laser targeted traffic to your blog. (Remember google doesn’t LOVE your company website, these strategies can also apply to your company website.  SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

This is the process of raising your website or heart up the google ladder for specific keywords.

Here is an easy example, Joe is on the internet, and he is looking to buy a new car. So he gets on google, does a search for a car dealers. Well you just happen to be a car dealer and you made your website very attractive to google. So Google said, Hey, I like this website let’s put it at the top of the search results. Note: This is a nature search conducted by google. Not a pay pre click ad.

Then Joe see’s your website is on top of the food chain. So he clicks on it. Joe checks out your website or blog likes what he see and then becomes a customer. Thank You google for free advertising.

Now you’re convinced, you need to know this SEO stuff.

Let’s break SEO down to 4 key elements:

  1. The Crawl
    2. Page factors
    3. Site navigation set up
    4. Inbound Linking
  2. The Crawl

Hey, you don’t want to be invisible, so someone needs to know you exist. That’s where search engine spiders come in, we will call them bots. Search engine’s send out bots to “crawl” through your website.

Basically checking you out, inside and out, everything and anything they can get there grabby little hands on (text, images, links) they look at it. Hey, they gottta know what kind of content you have.

You want the bots to “crawl” around your site. If the bots didn’t do their job, you could forget about the search engines having a clue about your website & pages. And you could say sayonara to the Search engines indexing you and Ranking you according to your content.

  1. Page Factors

The 3 most important on – page factors are Page Title, Headlines, and Body Text.

1) Page Title

The page title is found in the topmost sector of your web browser (the blue/black strip at the top of your web browser, with the logo of your web browser on the extreme left).

2) Headlines

Headlines are the names of your posts or articles

3) Body Text

Your body text is your actually post/article or content that helps the search engine or the website visitor know what the heck your website is about.

  1. Site Navigation Set Up

Don’t ignore this aspect of SEO it is just as important as all the other steps.

If web visitors can’t quickly find the information they’re looking for, they will leave as fast as they came, and most likely won’t come back.

The search engine bots also need to be able easily and quickly find what they are looking for so they can do a better job of indexing your site.

You need to make your site as navigable as possible.

Follow these 3 rules as a guideline:

1) The more important the content, the closer to home it needs to be.

Follow the (3 Click Rule) by trying to keep your Key (stuff you always want people see) Content within 3 clicks from your homepage.

Note: this is only a guideline to follow, it’s not mandatory, but it’s good one especially if you’re a beginner.

2) Use Common Sense to Group Content.

Put content where it belongs. You wouldn’t want to put your shoes in your refrigerator. So don’t do it with your website. Always try to group your content logically to allow users and search engine spiders to sort through your content effectively.

3) Don’t create a dead Zone.

Create link backs, where you link pages together. Always link back to pages or post that were created before other post or pages. Don’t forget to link back to the homepage. Plus you get more play out of the content.

  1. Inbound Linking

Inbound Linking is when another website backlinks (points back) to your website.

Believe it or not the more websites linking to your website the more search engines love you and the higher you rank in google, yahoo etc.

Why is SEO important? Because it’s free advertising for you and your business. Allowing you to generate free laser targeted leads for your business.

Tips for Search Engine Optimization and What It Can Do For You

Online success flows from rising high in the search engines’ rankings and staying there, which you already know if you have an established website. I have a few tips I will give you on how to get higher search engine rankings.

You can learn how to apply SEO strategies to improve your website when you understand how it works. Search engines rank all websites by using proprietary sets of algorithms and rules. Unlike humans, search engines can’t actually read your site to determine whether or not it provides valuable information.

Instead, they look at a number of different components to determine how relevant your site is to a particular topic. This helps the search engines decide where to place your site in the search results. This is why you need to learn about SEO! Search engine optimization helps you speak the search engines’ language. This can lead to them ranking your site much, much higher!

Search engines consider many factors when it comes to ranking your site. The frequency of search-relevant keywords plays a significant role in the ranking process. The search engine will look for activity and links on your site.

Achieving a high ranking on search engines is accomplished through strategic design and time. The web crawlers are looking for specific parameters that appeal to these engines. Using keywords proficiently within your titles, pages and text will push the engines to focus on your site. Your situational results will be increased by the use of proper keywords thereby advancing your ranking within the search engines. Once you have this down pat, you will notice better results.

The sponsored and featured entries that are at the top of the search engine result page are paid for by businesses who have the funds to secure those spots. If you are a normal site, you won’t be able to pay for this.

When you affiliate yourself with other sites, it can help promote your site. Not only should use you keywords and common phrases, but you should have links to your webpages on other web locations to optimize your site. Be on the lookout for respected webmasters in your field and do everything you can to get them to link to your site. This is a valuable step you can take in an effort to bring more traffic to your website.

Try to get targeted guests to come to your site. Visitors who were looking for your product are more likely to become customers than are the visitors that stumbled upon your website on accident. Finding targeted viewers is done by determining what keywords they might be searching for to find a site like yours. It is also helpful to place advertisements in online locations that are frequented by your target market.

Every company should have a website. A reliable website is needed if you get sales and clients from the Internet.
